Channel 4 launches interactive service
Published Thursday, Nov 21 2002, 14:06 GMT | By Alan Jay
Channel 4 have launched a dedicated interactive channel, Four Active, on digital satellite.
The service was designed jointly by Channel 4 and tentendigital, and was developed by Sky's in-house interactive department, providing seamless integration with Sky's own Sky Active service.
Four Active marks the first time the elements of Sky Active have been available from non-Sky channels.
As with other current generation elements of Sky Active, the "red" button is used to access the interactive channel, leaving your current viewing channel (C4 and E4) in quarter screen.
Areas on Four Active include interactive Celebrity Big Brother, voting options, interactive games (including Two Way TV’s popular word game 'String Em In'), and a selection of other games currently in development. Further additions will include chat and a number of new generic applications.
Four Active also provides links in to all of Sky Active's services, such as games and shopping.
A cable version will be rolled out some time in the future.
