Sky to get first "self promotion" channel

A channel dedicated to advertising its own operator is to join the Sky EPG next month in what is thought to be a UK first.
Awareness TV, billed as a "self promotional channel", will air live footage of tropical freshwater fish from 6.30am–8.00pm each day.
The service is operated by Canis Media which trades in Sky EPG slots and provides other services related to launching TV channels.
"The channel is a demonstration of the latest technology available to launch television channels," said Canis. "The images of the fish will be accompanied by ambient music, free of voice over, alongside Canis Fish Facts, and information about Canis Media."
Test satellite transmissions for Awareness TV began this week and it is scheduled to appear in the Sky EPG at the beginning of next month. It is not yet known which slot the channel will occupy.
