This afternoon the Now and Next information on the various Freeview Multiplexes is being reconfigured to work across Muxes.
At around 3pm on the Crystal Palace transmitter the BBC's original Mux was showing now and next data for the ITV/C4 Mux and the ITV/C4 Mux was showing data for the BBC original Mux.
By 5pm all the Muxes on the Crystal Palace transmitter were broadcasting now and next information for the other channels.
By 7pm on the Crystal Palace transmitter Channel 5 and the Sky Channels now have EPG data and on the original BBC Mux. Access speeds for data from the other Muxes are very much improved.
Channels that didn't have any EPG data - like C5 and the Sky Channels - still have no data, but those Muxes contain the data from the other channels and Muxes.
On my Pace DTVA the guide data cross muxes can take up to a minute to populate the grid with the second Mux appearing after 10 seconds or so.
The roll out of this is being done region by region and was expected to be finished by the end of the day.
It has been reported to us that this update to the data has confused the latest Daewoo DS608P receiver (the one with SETPAL on board) which had intelligent channel sorting leaving the channels starting at 801.
The above issue with SETPAL has been fixed (5/Dec). It appears that there was an error in the data being sent and the SETPAL chipset constantly looks for changes in this data and automatically updates accordingly - in this case it could no longer see the channels and when re-scanned placed with from 800 upwards as to it it couldn't see valid data.
More as the update continues through the afternoon.
