The X Factor 2011 mobile application has launched on BlackBerry smartphones, enabling users to discuss the show's latest developments via BlackBerry Messenger (BBM).

The app, which was released on Apple's iPhone in August, offers the latest video clips, news, backstage gossip and highlights from the hit ITV1 series.

The headline feature is the 'Tap to Clap' play-along function enabling fans to 'applaud' the contestants, performances, judges' comments, guest stars and results in real time.

This 'applause' can also be shared with other fans on social networks.

The BlackBerry version further enables users to chat with their BBM contacts who have also downloaded the app to see who they are cheering or jeering.

The X Factor 2011 app is available to download now for free from BlackBerry app world.
