I have nothing but trouble. the auto time set up in usually 1 day out. it freezes for a pass time. i.e. I record something manual and when I press stop it locks and must be switched off. it records all widescreen as normal from the tuner but will do it from external sources. the time. Everytime you switch off the mains (couple of times a week, if you use it twice) you have to re initialise everything and reset any timers if your daff enough to believe it will work. often it destroys disc -r and -rw, it and no other can read or reformat them. even afer the last software upgrade it still doesn't work even time seach fails, sad thing is the picture quality is great when it is working.

I had no end of problems with this machine, to the extent that I eventually took it back and got my money back. From the beginning it would periodically freeze and have to be unplugged and reinitialised to get it to work again. At Philips' request I upgraded the firmware level twice, without any improvement. It eventually went back to them for repair but came back in a worse state than it was when it was sent to them. It then wouldn't record preselected programmes. I orginally bought it because of the support it gave for HDMI and HD upscaling plus the ability to replay DiVX encoded DVDs. When it worked it would do these but it just didn't work often enough.
