The philips dvp3005 has to be the best value dvd player you can get out there. I got mine for £39.99 from argos afew months ago, you can get it for much less now. Progressive scan and multi-region playback too!

Cheap initial price, but after only around 30 plays the laser 'broke' and needed replacing. Then almost a year to the day, the laser 'broke' again, and was out of warranty. I would guess we have played around 50 dvd's total in that time.
