'Apprentice' winner finally starts work

Apprentice winner Lee McQueen has finally started his new job with Sir Alan Sugar.

The former recruitment sales manager missed his first week of work due to illness.

A spokesman for Sugar said that McQueen had his first day yesterday after recovering from a "flu-like virus".

He added: "Lee had a few meetings during June when he wasn't officially employed and he wants to hit the ground running."

McQueen beat rival contestant Claire Young in the final episode of the BBC One show last month, despite being caught out lying on his CV.

Sugar's decision has resulted in criticism from Dragons' Den star Duncan Bannatyne, who claims that Lee should have been fired for his dishonesty.
