CNNI appoints new managing editor

Nick Wrenn

CNN has announced that Nick Wrenn is the news network's new managing editor of production and newsgathering operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The post is a senior position in CNN's new international directorate. Wrenn will mainly be responsible for CNN London's integrated television and web operations, with editorial oversight for flagship London-based news and business programmes including World News Europe, World Business Today, along with feature programmes such as International Correspondents and Global Office. CNN London is the news network's largest bureau outside the United States, and produces over fifty hours of live programming a week.

CNN International managing director Chris Cramer said:

"Nick is a highly experienced journalist and talented manager. His experience and knowledge of CNN’s editorial and commercial business needs will be invaluable as we continue to develop CNN International and integrate newsgathering."

Wrenn previously edited CNN's international websites. In his new role, Wrenn will continue to oversee all of CNN's English-language international websites as well as CNNArabic.com.

Prior to joining CNN in July 2000, Wrenn worked at BBC News Online, the Press Association, Reuters, UPI, and BBC Ceefax. He began his career as a print journalist at the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Gazette.
