To all those critics who are complaining about more of the same from Auntie - wait til you see what ITV has to offer!!!! (BTW, ITV stopped competing for Xmas ratings years ago)

Yep, World Idol is on Xmas Day on ITV1 Joseph. Why isn't Harry Potter in that schedule. Big waste of licence payers money if they don't show it! Sounds like the best thing on BBC1 will be the idents, so long as they don't recycle last year's!
Nikki Picton on November 26th, 2003
As usual the schedule does not look too exciting except for the long awaited Only Fools and Horses, there is not much else to look forward to!

I'm in the United States (Boston, Massachusetts area), and it seems the TV networks here do not go all out for Christmas the way that BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five do in the UK. Normally, Christmas Day programmes on American television consist of either reruns, or in the case of ABC, an NBA pro basketball game. This year, other than basketball, the biggest Christmas Day programme on an American network will be the U.S. showing of "World Idol" on Fox. I would think it will also air on ITV-1 the same day.

All I'm looking out for is Our House - The Musical on BBC Three. Probably the one of the better programs worth catching this Christmas.

This year's Crimbo line up looks set to be great - much better than any I can remember, although the Eastenders special could be rubish, as Matt says - it's sure to feature death and gloom. My sister'll be pleased too, at the sing along interactive; maybe I'll accidently destroy the red button ;-) ? I'm looking forward to the OFAH episode too, a year has been a long wait - and it better be worth it!

Don't you see? They're doing it on purpose. Putting as much crap on as we can stand so we all rush out and buy digital channels. But they should remember alot of us actually can't afford nice new digital widescreen tvs and satellite monthly payments. We still have peasant tv because its all we can afford. So all they do is rub it in that if you've got money you can have all these other programmes and more choice. Well thanks for nothing.

I think its a good lineup. I'm quite looking forward to it.

Eastenders Christmas Party - is this a modeen version of The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club, Frank will make a cringe worthy Les Dawson- all we need is for Barbara Windsor to get her boobs out and do a topless bar dance and it'll be the Wheel Slappers. Jo Brand can play dominos and eat pork pies. According to Shane Richie this week he didn't do panto - what the hell will this be then ?? Absolutely Fabulous special is a good highlight and Posh and Becks Big Impression are my personal nighlights Eastenders Social Club - next week it'll be Walfordvison Song Contest

It all souds pretty much like a typical bbc christmas full of rubbish apart from the only fools and horses special. Lets all hope that it brightens up our holidays!!!!
Sherlock on November 25th, 2003
The thought of an Eastenders Christmas Party and the quality acts lined up makes me count the minutes left until xmas.....not.
Blueghost on November 25th, 2003
I think the line up is pretty good. The Office should be ok, and i love My Family. Also the QI x-mas special mentioned on BBC2 should be on too! Films are good entertainment, and only fools is always decent telly.
James Braby on November 25th, 2003
While the US seems to beat the UK hands-down all year with arse-kicking quality programming, no-one does Christmas like British tele; to be more precise, no-one does Christmas like Auntie Beeb. For me and millions of other Brits, sitting down in front of the box watching a film sandwiched between two eps of Eastenders followed by a new 'Fools, is as much part of Chrimbo as turkey 'n' spuds and a new wooly jumper from Grandma. And with all-new The Office as an extra Yuletide bonus, I for one and most definitely looking forward to the BBC's glittering Xmas lineup. Eat your heart out ITV.
Steven Dale on November 25th, 2003
Good thing i'm getting lots of dvds and games for xmas but I am looking forward to The office's final episodes
Adrian on November 25th, 2003
I do not think much of it, most of it sound boring the same old BBC, doing the same old stuff.I can not believe they are showing the Wizard of Oz again, it is as bad as ITV keep showing James Bond. Glad I got the DVD player and the internet.
Dave H on November 25th, 2003
why do the beeb keep on wheeling out the same holiday scheduling every year? I'm glad that i've got sky!
Daniel on November 25th, 2003
This all sounds rather depressing but I am sure that there will be some better stuff on as well. If all else fails there is Radio 4 and BBC 7.
Gary K on November 25th, 2003
Fantastic. I'm going to cancel my sky subscription.
Victor on November 25th, 2003
Special Christmas episodes of shows I never watch, yet another final episode of "Only Fools and Horses..." and "premieres" that have already been shown on satellite television and therefore don't qualify (although admittedly they're good). I think I'll be giving the Beeb a miss - again.
Paul on November 25th, 2003
Yet another solid Christmas Line-up from the Beeb. Watching the BBC is a Christmas tradition and there are some gems lined up with the odd turkey; Eastenders Christmas Party. Overall, can't wait but bring back Noels Christmas Presents!
