
Jonathan has presented two series of the long running home video clips show, but has decided not to record a third in order to further his stage career.
A show insider said: "Jonathan is an all-rounder and felt that just reading links wasn't really his style. The time was right to move on."
Producers of the show have eight weeks to find a new presenter to fill the boots of the £100,000 a series role, which have previously included Jeremy Beadle and Lisa Riley.
A Granada spokeswoman said: "We are trying to find him other projects, including a variety show, which could showcase his talents as an all-round entertainer."
