ITV's 'Boy Meets Girl' drops to 2.4m

The second episode of ITV drama Boy Meets Girl lost a million viewers on Friday, according to early figures.

The four-part series, which stars Martin Freeman and Paterson Joseph, opened with an unspectacular 3.43m (15.7%) on May 1 but was down to 2.44m (11%) on Friday.

It was almost beaten in its slot by NCIS, which took 2.33m (10.5%) for Five. A double-bill of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA had a decent 2.16m (10.2%) for Channel 4, with a further 185k (1.3%) on timeshift, while BBC Two's English Heritage put in 1.74m (7.9%).

A Jack Dee-fronted Have I Got News For You brought in 5.19m (23.2%) to BBC One in the first half of the hour, then the third episode of Reggie Perrin kept 3.84m (17.5%).

Earlier, Gardeners' World delivered 2.19m (10.5%) in the 8pm hour. Five had 811k (3.9%) for Police Interceptors, while on Channel 4, A Place In The Sun: Home Or Away managed 1.09m (5.2%).

Tonight's investigation into credit scoring notched up 2.98m (14.8%) for ITV1 between 8pm and 8.30pm, after which a Total Wipeout highlights show had 2.39m (11.2%) for BBC One.

Overall, BBC One had the lead in primetime with an average share of 21.1% to ITV1's 19.9%. BBC Two was third with 8.2%, followed by Channel 4 with 6.9% (+1: 0.7%) and Five with 6.1%.
