As Digital Spy reported back in July, NBC Universal-owned cable channel Trio is adding a regular gay programming block to its schedule.

The "OUTzone" launches later today (Saturday), and kicking off the new block will be the ever-popular Dame Edna Everage. Five episodes of the Dame Edna Experience will air back-to-back from 08:00 - noon, followed by Velvet Goldmine, The Legend of Leigh Bowery, Miss America pageants from 1983 and 1958, Gods and Monsters - and then another episode of Dame Edna's Experience.

"Trio has always been drawn to the cutting edge of culture and the kitschy-cool sensibility that is so associated with the gay community," said Trio president Lauren Zalaznick back in July. "OUTzone creates a regular viewing experience where our viewers can go to find both overtly gay programming and programming that has captured the imagination of gay audiences."
