
EastEnders triumphed as the most-watched programme on Christmas Day, although ratings were generally down across the board.
The festive edition of the Walford soap, which saw Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) finally receive his comeuppance, was seen by 10.86m (45.9%) in the 8pm hour on BBC One.
A special edition of The Royle Family, which followed at 9pm, was the second most-watched programme of the day, with 10.23m (42.5%).
Earlier, the first part of David Tennant's final outing in Doctor Who was seen by 10.03m (42.2%) in the 6pm hour. The figure was down on the 11.71m (50.5%) who tuned in for last year's Christmas special, 'The Next Doctor'.

An hour-long edition of Emmerdale put in 5.19m (21.9%) for ITV1 opposite Who at 6pm.
Also on BBC One last night, the penultimate episode of Gavin & Stacey brought in 9.17m (39.2%) - the show's largest ever audience - between 10pm and 10.30pm. It was followed by Catherine Tate: Nan's Christmas Carol, which averaged 7.13m (36.2%).
The Queen's speech - broadcast as usual at 3pm - was seen by 5.56m (36.7%) on BBC One and 2.51m (16.6%) on ITV1.
A festive edition of Top Of The Pops pulled in 3.4m (27.6%) for BBC One in the 2pm hour.

After Corrie, ITV1 aired All Star Mr & Mrs, which had just 2.88m (12.2%), then Poirot grew the audience to 3.71m (16.1%) at 9pm.
BBC Two found success last night with repeats of classic comedies. Dad's Army logged 3.39m (14.5%) at 8pm, then a rebroadcast of Blackadder The Third delivered 2.9m (12.1%). Top Gear followed at 9pm with 1.48m (6.1%). Earlier, in the 7pm hour, James May's Toy Stories put in an impressive 2.62m (10.7%).
Channel 4 had a dismal evening, starting with 356k (1.5%) for documentary Katie: My Beautiful Face in the 8pm hour. A screening of Grey Gardens followed with just 385k (1.7%).
Five had a slightly better evening, kicking off with 459k (1.9%) for Gadget Show: Gadget Of The Decade. Documentary The ABBA Years interested 997k (4.1%) at 9pm, then an hour later, Mamma Mia!: Where Did It All Go Right? appealed to 795k (3.6%). A screening of Abba: The Movie was not as popular, however, averaging just 357k (3%).
Overall, BBC One had a massive 38.2% average share during primetime, while ITV1 put in just 19.3%. BBC Two was third with 8.5%, followed by Five with 3% and Channel 4 with 1.7% (+1: 0.3%).
BBC One also triumphed with all-day share, taking 31.1% to ITV1's 18.1%.

ITV2's repeats of Corrie and Emmerdale had 377k (4%) and 182k (3.5%) respectively from 11.40pm, with 52k (1%) and 55k (1.8%) on ITV2+1.
