Jonathan Ross will make his first appearance as host for the Royal Variety Performance next month, the BBC announced today.

Ross, a veteran of hosting awards shows, will take to the stage alongside an array of big name acts at the charitable event at the London Colliseum on Monday, December 4.

Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will be in attendance to see performers such as Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow, Meatloaf, Take That, John Barrowman, Ken Dodd, and the Sugababes, plus the casts of Spamalot and The Sound Of Music.

Also appearing on the night in some capacity will be Katie Price and Peter Andre, Paul O'Grady, Vernon Kay and Noel Edmonds.

The Royal Variety Performance is an annual charity event in aid of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund and will be screened on BBC One in December.
