'Extras' to end with one-off special

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have decided to write one more episode of TV comedy Extras, deciding not to opt for a third series.

According to reports, a special finale episode will be produced, as with the writing team's earlier sitcom The Office.

A spokeswoman for Gervais told the BBC that the programme was in its "very, very early" stages, with no casting or production date planned as yet.
