Day Twenty Two

Published Sunday, Jun 17 2001, 20:50 BST | By Neil Wilkes
09:00-11:00

Josh gets up and lets the chickens out of their coup and checks for eggs. Helen gets up and showers wearing a rubber glove to protect her cut finger. Josh and Stuart discuss Paul's sleep talking, which last night included Paul shouting out "Josh, Josh." Paul finally gets his chance to dress up as a woman when Helen and Narinder take charge of the make over including clothes, make-up and fake breasts turning Paul into a fully-fledged woman.

11:00-12:00

The girls put the finishing touches to Paul's make-up and he makes his debut for the rest of the house who instantly christen him Pauline. He is persuaded to try on different underwear before settling on a thong. Outside Josh looks at the chickens and tells Brian he would really like to have chickens of his own but Brian - who hates chickens - tells him that he has gone too far.

12:00-14:00

Whilst cooking lunch, Helen announces that she quite fancies Paul now that he is dressed as a woman, which causes him to take mock offence. After lunch Amma teaches Paul how to walk and sit like a woman, and they theorise ways to hide his unseemly bulge. Meanwhile Brian asks Josh if any of his friends are suitable for him, and gets him to describe them all for him. This helps them get over their bitchiness and talk about how it made them feel to be respectively to be the only gay person and the second gay person in the house. Brian even admits that Josh's presence made him feel uncomfortable.

14:00-16:00

In the Diary Room, Paul discusses nominations and seems very relaxed, saying that he doesn't mind which way it goes. Brian also goes to the diary room to explain why he has been feeling unsettled over the last few days and puts it down to his sister's pregnancy, as well as his unfair behaviour toward Josh. Dean tells Paul that he doesn't think that he will go in tonight's evictions after Stuart's argument with Amma earlier in the week, and they both agree it can't have done Stuart any favours. It begins raining, and so the groups planned exercising is delayed but it's only a small shower and soon they're outside doing their press-ups and squat thrusts.

16:00-18:00
The exercising routine continues, with Josh leading them all through a vigorous routine, bar Stuart, Dean and Paul. Bubble calls Stuart 'Mr Homophobe' but Stuart defends himself, claiming how can he be homophobic if he shares a bedroom with two gay guys. After recovering from their exercises, the girls get ready for "going live to the nation", preening themselves with Brian who keeps the mood light with his banter. Throughout all this, Paul continues to prance around in his dress.

18:00-20:00
Paul talks to Stuart about the eviction and thinks that it will be interesting because they are not opposites but the generation gap might play a part. Stuart says that at least they haven't got the stigma of being the first out. Josh oversees the preparation of dinner - sausages and mash - during which Helen announces that she likes square sausages best. After dinner, Brian asks Narinder whether she thinks Josh feels bad about being the only one to get a memory task question wrong, to which she replies that he doesn't feel bad enough. Helen re-touches Paul's make up and the cider is finally cracked open.

20:00-21:00
Big Brother asks the housemates to gather in the lounge. The nerves are clearly getting to Paul but when Davina announces that Stuart is being evicted, he leaps up shouting, "Yes!" He then tells the group that he has just bought a nine-acre farm and will have a party on it for the group after Big Brother has finished.

21:00-22:30
After Stuart hands out goodies to the group, Bubble tries to trade his sweets for cans of soft drink with Brian and Narinder, but they refuse because soon it will be like gold dust. Brian helps Paul strip out of his dress. Paul thinks it's mad that he is being stripped by a gay man live on television to which Brian replies that everything is now back to normal.

22:30-00:00
Before Stuart leaves, he delivers a heartfelt speech to his soon to be ex-housemates, thanking and apologising where necessary. Eventually, Stuart leaves and the rest are left to play a game where Narinder has to guess who kisses her. She guesses Paul but not before Brian slips her the tongue, and she re-iterates her theory that Brian is really straight. Paul chats to Elizabeth, saying that he thinks Stuart's arguments with Penny and Amma could have swayed the public against him. He also believes he has been given a second chance and know will have a chance to show his sensitive side in the house.

0000-0100
Bubble talks with Helen about his past addiction to cocaine and how he finally managed to kick the habit, whilst in the lounge Josh tells Brian that his tendency to judge people too quickly won't help him in forming relationships. Brian agrees with him. Getting ready for bed, Dean, Paul and Josh talk about it being weird that Stuart is no longer around. Paul says it was strange hearing people screaming outside when Stuart was evicted: " It sends a weird thing up and down my spine."

02:00-09:00
Everyone is fast asleep.
