Ramsay accused of faking US TV show

Gordon Ramsay has been accused in a lawsuit of faking scenes for the US version of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.

Martin Hyde, a former general manager at New York City restaurant Dillons, filed a lawsuit on Monday alleging that Ramsay humiliated him and forced him to quit his job to avoid further abuse.

Hyde also claimed that Ramsay lied about finding rotten meat in the restaurant and hired actors to patronise the establishment to make it appear more popular.

Hyde asked the US District Court in Manhattan to stop the show from being aired.

A representative for Ramsay denied the allegations, saying: "It’s a reality show and as far as I know it’s not something they do.”

Last year Ramsay received damages after winning a libel case against the Evening Standard, which had suggested that he faked scenes for an episode of the British version of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
