Bewitched actress Elizabeth Montgomery has been posthumously honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ceremony, which took place on January 4, remembered the female star of the comedy, who passed away aged 62 in 1995 from colon cancer.

The Press Association reports that her son Bill told crowds: "I want to thank my mum's tenacious and loving fans that, over the last decade or more, have rallied to really make this star on Hollywood Boulevard happen for her."

Montgomery played well-meaning witch Samantha in 254 episodes of the supernatural show between 1964 and 1972, scooping numerous Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her performance. A big screen version of Bewitched, starring Nicole Kidman, was released in 2005.
