Lynam to host 'Sport Mastermind'

Des Lynam is to host a new sports version of Mastermind for BBC Two.

The show, to air in primetime throughout the Beijing Olympics, Euro 2008 and Wimbledon, will be his first for the BBC since defecting to ITV in 1999.

Ten half-hour episodes of Sports Mastermind will follow the classic specialist subject then general knowledge format.

Lynam said: "Bearing in mind how many people are fascinated by sport, I think this show will be a very popular complement to Mastermind.

"I have always been a fan of the show and I am delighted to be involved."
