Corden wants Hoffman for US 'Gavin'

James Corden has said he would like Philip Seymour Hoffman to play his character in the US version of Gavin & Stacey.

The comedian picked Hoffman as his dream choice to play the character of Smithy in an American reworking of the BBC Three show.

"Philip Seymour Hoffman would be an amazing Smithy," Corden told The Sun.

"I’d love that. I can’t wait to see the US show. Getting it started was delayed by their writers’ strike but it’s back on course now."

Hoffman won the best actor Academy Award in 2005 for his role in Capote.
