micawber

Micawber, a major new drama series for ITV1, reunites David Jason with Only Fools and Horses creator John Sullivan. Shot on location in Yorkshire, Edinburgh and Newcastle, Micawber follows the fame and misfortune of Charles Dickens’ most extravagant and loveable character before his encounter with David Copperfield.

One of the nation’s most popular actors, David Jason always relishes the challenge of creating a new character. “Micawber has been a great role to bring to life," he said. "The locations are spectacular, the cast has been tremendous and it is wonderful to work on a new project with John Sullivan.???

The role of the long-suffering Mrs. Micawber is played by Annabelle Apsion. Annabelle is well known for her four years as Joy Wilton in the hit ITV series Soldier Soldier. Recent credits include Mrs Beech in Goodnight Mister Tom and Beverley in The Lakes and Queenie white in My Uncle Silas with Albert Finney.

The series also introduces the audience to an array of colourful characters, rogues and cads created by John Sullivan in the style of Dickens. Playing these roles throughout the four episodes is a prestigious cast of actors including Michael Troughton (Milton) Jamie Foreman (Ismail Kane), Jan Francis (Lady Charlotte), Sam Kelly (Mr Cudlipp), Elizabeth Bennett (Mother Sturgeon), Adrian Hood (Babbitt) Martin Jarvis (Lord M), Mark Benton (Ezra Chesney) and Milton Johns (Mr Chettle).

Micawber kicks off on Boxing Day at 21.05 on ITV1
