The Chatty Man comic told Digital Spy that his main motivation for the arena tour was to remind people that he's a comedian at heart.
Watch Alan Carr talking about Spexy Beast, his worst gigs and The X Factor:
Carr also claimed that it was a case of now or never for a stand-up return, joking that he couldn't leave it any longer.
"You know when you come back after 10 years, it's a bit late and it's all a bit eggy, I didn't want that," said the comic.
"This tour nearly killed me... but I'm so glad I did it."
Alan Carr's Spexy Beast live standup DVD is out now.
