Lil' Chris

What are you up to on the show?
"It's all based around music. I'm interviewing people like Shayne Ward, Robyn and The Hoosiers, and Plain White T's are performing outside my Winnebago thingy. It's just a bit of a laugh really, and I even get to have a rant about little dogs."
What's wrong with little dogs?
"They're just pointless, you've got to admit. What are they gonna save you from? A rat or a mouse maybe, but nothing else. If you've got a big dog, make them eat all the little dogs. That's what I'd do."
How would you describe your presenting style?
"It sort of gets a bit better as it goes along. Towards the end I'm actually saying stuff, not just spitting it out and stuttering all over the place. When I started off it was a nightmare. It's really difficult talking to the camera because you feel like a bit of an idiot, but I've got used it. I talk to myself quite a lot now."
What did you do with Shayne Ward?
"We went fishing in the Thames. It was good and we caught some turbot. I only had a little plastic rod, but he had a properly big one. I think mine came from Poundland or somewhere, but his was a big, professional thing."
Did he get competitive?
"Nah, he didn't. He was a good sport. When we were down on the jetty by the river, I got this fish - quite a reasonable-sized fish, the size of a cod you'd get from a fish and chip shop - and I chucked it over the ledge. There was this really weird man with a beard and a metal detector down below and it hit him on the head! In front of Shayne Ward! He didn't know what to do!"
Did you capture the moment on camera?
"No, we didn't! I was gutted, but Shayne was there to see it and the legend will live on. I didn't even aim for the guy's head, but I just chucked it over and it smacked him right on the head. He looked around like it had fallen out of the sky."
How did you get on with Robyn?
"I freaked her out by asking her who her boyfriend could beat up. Hey boyfriend's a cage-fighter. Apparently he can beat up Mike Tyson, but I'm not sure that it's true."
Who would be your ideal guests on future shows?
"I'd like people like McFly to come on because they're a laugh. I just want anyone who's up for a laugh and up for getting ripped. I don't want anyone who's uptight, because they won't have any fun on the show."
Would you have Gene Simmons on?
"Yeah, definitely, he'd be a laugh. I haven't spoken to him in years. We did send a few emails back and forth, but not in a while. He's got a lot to take care of - hundreds of businesses!"
Have you been recording any new music recently?
"We've been doing some new stuff for the last eight months or so, on and off. We've got another album ready to go and a new single, which is the theme tune to Everyone Loves Lil' Chris. The new stuff's a bit older so I can get away with a lot more swear words."
Which you prefer: singing or TV presenting?
"I just want to keep busy and do as much as I can. I want as many strings to my bow as possible! Why not?"
Everyone Loves Lil' Chris airs Saturday at 11am on Channel 4.
