Mel and Sue join RI:SE
Published Thursday, Jan 16 2003, 14:55 GMT | By Steven Smith
Comedy duo Mel Guidroyc and Sue Perkins will present a 30-minute show as part of Channel 4's breakfast show RI:SE when it returns on Monday.
The 8:30am until 9am slot is expected to follow a similar format to that of their previous Channel 4 show, Light Lunch. Edith Bowman and new co-host Iain Lee will front RI:SE between 7am and 8.30am.
Sue has recently returned from a relatively short stay in the Big Brother house, as part of November's celebrity series.
A briefing note has been sent to showbusiness agents and PRs from the RI:SE production team saying they are looking for guests who are "a little more mature, even a little kitsch" for Mel and Sue's show.
The move towards a more chat show format is seen as Channel 4's attempt to take viewers from ITV1's GMTV.
