New-look RI:SE goes live
Published Monday, Jan 20 2003, 23:13 GMT | By Neil Wilkes

A revamped RI:SE went live on Channel 4 this morning, complete with a new presenting team, format and location.
The network is hoping that a change of direction will help turn around the fortunes of the troubled show after viewing figures slumped to just 200,000 before Christmas.
Former 11 O'Clock Show host Iain Lee has joined as male co-presenter to Edith Bowman, the only surviving member of the original seven-strong RI:SE presenting team, whilst comedy duo Mel and Sue have been drafted in to front a live half-hour show each day from 8.30.
The new format is a far cry from the slick, professional look that accompanied RI:SE's debut in April 2002 -- gone is the rolling news ticker, the presenter's desk and the six-pack of news.
Many are already comparing the new show -- dubbed 'RI:SE 2' -- to its predecessor The Big Breakfast, which was axed after ten years because of falling ratings.
