Richard Hopkins moves to the BBC

Richard Hopkins, former executive producer of Fame Academy and currently executive producing Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, will move from Endemol to the BBC at the end of March to take up the post of Creative Head - Format Entertainment.

Hopkins has a plethora of credits to his name; in addition to his work on Fame Academy, he was involved as exec producer on C4's Big Breakfast, series producer on the 11 O'Clock Show, and executively produced Fear Factor for Initial. During the summer of 2000, Hopkins worked as live series producer for the first series of Big Brother.

Wayne Garvie, Head of the BBC's Entertainment Group, said: "Richard is one of the true stars of the entertainment world. He makes ideas happen and turns them into winning programmes. He'll be a real asset to BBC Entertainment."

Hopkins will be responsible for attracting and developing new programme making talent for BBC Entertainment, and managing the corporation's Format Factory. He said: "I'm delighted to be joining the in-house team and am looking forward to leading the challenge to find new programmes that compliment the existing light entertainment favourites."
