The BBC's Saturday Show has beaten SM:tv in the ratings for the first time, according to weekend data.

The programme, which airs over three hours each Saturday from 9am, has seen a reversal in fortunes since its launch presenters Joe Mace and Dani Behr were ditched in favour of relative newcomers Fearne Cotton and Simon Grant last September.

Since their arrival, ratings for the show have slowly grown, rising to match that of its ITV1 counterpart for the first time a fortnight ago.

Latest figures show that it has now overtaken SM:tv, however, averaging an audience of 1.1 million last Saturday (8th) against 1.0 million respectively.

"We are thrilled with the news and will definitely be popping the champagne to celebrate!" said Annette Williams, Executive Producer of The Saturday Show. "New presenters Fearne Cotton and Simon Grant are obviously proving to be very popular. We've worked hard to get the content right, offering a fresh mix of fun, entertainment and music plus great guests each week. We look forward to building on this success."
