The Community Channel will launch on September 18th, it has been announced.

The station, originally anticipated last July, will broadcast via the SkyDigital platform from 1pm - 4pm, 7 days a week. The channel hopes to be available ONdigital and on digital cable services shortly afterwards.
The channel's basic format will be a studio-based show hosted by presenters. Typically every hour will be divided up into 15-minute segments. Each segment will be devoted to a particular charitable organisation and the cause it addresses. Segments will comprise a mixture of video footage, studio discussion and the opportunity for viewers to contribute time or money to the cause.
The Community Channel will exist on the internet as well as digital television. Streaming video technology will be employed to enable viewers to watch video extracts of charities featured. The website will also offer an information and back up service enabling access to more information and contact to be made with charities.
