'Fame Academy' celebs announced
Published Monday, Mar 3 2003, 16:12 GMT | By James Welsh
The BBC today confirmed eight celebrities who will be taking part in the upcoming Comic Relief Does Fame Academy show.
Ulrika Jonsson, John Thomson, Will Mellor, Jo Brand, Paul Ross, Fearne Cotton, Kwame Kwei-Armah and Ruby Wax have all been confirmed today, with a ninth to be revealed later in the week. In a "twist" - a term now used so often in reality TV, with both Joe Millionaire and now American Idol having promised them - only eight students will get into the Academy; all nine will be required to perform live on Friday night to "prove they are worthy of a place in the Academy."
The series starts at 9pm on BBC One, Friday March 7. The culmination of the event is on Red Nose Night, March 14. Expelled contestants will give interviews to Vanessa Langford and Dannan Breathnach over on BBC Three.
