The 7:30pm bulletin of Five News will focus entirely on 'War in Iraq' from tonight, the channel has said.

Chris Shaw, Five's Senior Controller of News and Current Affairs, said: "We believe Iraq is now likely to dominate the news agenda for the foreseeable future, people want to know the very latest and this programme will provide that each weekday night."

The half-hour programme will focus on Iraq and surrounding issues, anchored from Five News' studios by Kirsty Young and Charlie Stayt. Martin Bell, whom Five has hired to provide analysis on the day's developments, will also conduct interviews with "key figures at home and abroad." James Bays will report from Baghdad and Cathy Jones will be with British troops in Kuwait.

Five News Editor, Gary Rogers, said: "We aim to provide an accessible Five News mix of the latest news, clear analysis and frank discussion of all the issues.

"The programme will also offer news, analysis and discussion to keep the viewer fully briefed on the most important issue now facing us all."

Five News at Noon, 5:30pm and on the hour will remain in their current form. The 7:30pm news will also continue to provide a summary of non-Iraq news.
