Tony Blair has turned down an offer to be interviewed on the Al Jazeera news channel, according to this week's Broadcast.

The Prime Minister said he was too busy to accept the invitation to appear on the station, which he prevouiusly used as a platform for justifying the bombing of Afghanistan.

"We have lots of requests every week," a Downing Street spokesman told the magazine. "He does appear on a number of programmes."

Meanwhile, Blair recorded a special programme for MTV earlier today, for transmission across Europe Friday evening. In the show, 40 youngsters from 25 countries cross-examined the PM on his plans for war, and, according to reports, he wasn't given an easy time of it. Whilst some audience members were in support of his actions, most were against -- many concerned about the effects a war would have both in the region and for the international community as a whole.

An MTV Forum With Tony Blair: Is War The Answer? airs Friday at 21.00 on MTV in the UK and Ireland.
