UKTV network planning more originality

Changes to the UKTV network's factual output are in the pipeline, according to industry reports.
Andrew Lowrey, editor of factual channels on the network, has hired two new members of staff to complete the changes; Rupert Morling joins from ITV2 as Head of Scheduling, and Jane Wilson moves from Living Health to UK Horizons as Deputy Editor.
Wilson will be increasing UK Horizons' original commissions quota to a total of 106 hours in 2001; an increase of 120%. Morling will be repositioning the channel, so that it contains "darker content with an edgier feel".
As part of the changes, UK Style will also be increasing its commissions quota to 124 hours, the inclusion of food programmes expected to play a big part in the new schedules.
