Published Saturday, Aug 26 2000, 17:00 BST | By Neil Wilkes
It is expected that BBC Director-General Greg Dyke will tonight announce that the corporation will be moving its nightly news bulletin from nine o'clock to ten o'clock, filling the void left by ITV's decision to scrap News at Ten. The BBC's flagship evening newscast has been at its prime-time nine o'clock position for thirty years.
Greg Dyke will be outlining his vision for the future of the BBC tonight at the Edinburgh International Television Festival; you can watch him live on the BBC's Audio/Video website. The broadcast is scheduled to start at the following times:
Other topics expected to be raised by Dyke during his speech include the creation of two additional digital networks, BBC Three and BBC Four; and allaying fears that he is trying to "dumb down" the corporation's news and current affairs output.
