Channel 4 replaces niche FilmFour screens

FilmFour World and FilmFour Extreme are to be replaced by a single channel showing just three movies per week.
The new station, 'FilmFour Weekly', will launch on May 5, broadcasting three films per week at 8pm, 10pm and midnight each day. The decision follows audience research results which showed 70% of FlimFour subscribers would prefer more repeats of popular films.
"We have been listening carefully to what our subscribers are telling us and the message is loud and clear - viewers want greater frequency of great films they know and ultra simple, consistent scheduling," said Tom Sykes, general manager of FilmFour.
Movies being lined up for the channel's first month on air include Cruel Intentions, My Best Friend's Wedding, Taxi Driver and East Is East. Films which would have normally aired on FilmFour World and Extreme will move to the main FilmFour channel.
