Former Go West singer Peter Cox was voted out of ITV's Reborn in the USA this evening, just one step away from next week's live final in London.
His elimination came after that of Haydon Eshun, who lost out in the week-long public vote to Michelle Gayle.
Peter, Michelle and Tony Hadley then went on to perform for the local New York crowd. In a departure from the regular format, it fell to the live audience to directly control who would be progressing to the next stage and claiming a spot in the final.
Surprisingly, Peter gained the fewest votes, eliminating him from the competition. He was consistently a favourite with the bookmakers throughout the course of the show and one the local vote a total of three times.
Nerves on the night meant he forgot several lines whilst performing 'Don't Know Why'; ultimately, it seems, the cause of his downfall.
The Reborn in the USA final airs next Saturday at 6pm on ITV1.
