L!ve TV to be resurrected

The cable station famed for the likes of Topless Darts and the News Bunny is to make a comeback, according to this week's Broadcast.

Technology firm Eckoh Technologies has been granted a licence to broadcast Live TV by the ITC. It is planning to relaunch the channel on Sky Digital "later this year."

The schedule will feature programming from the Live TV library spanning more than two years, previously shown only on cable. The magazine reports Eckoh will make money by phone-ins, advertised during new content links in between programmes.

Kelvin MacKenzie, the former Sun editor who ran the channel in its latter days, welcomed its return.

"This is great news," he said. "All the old favourites will be back and it can only add to the gaiety of the nation. My particular favourite will be the return of the bouncing weather dwarf on a trampoline. I’ve no idea if it will work commercially but I’m delighted to see it back."
