Henman leads BBC to ratings victory

Coverage of Tim Henman's win against Argentinian David Nalbandian peaked at almost 13 million viewers last night.

The audience spike, which came at 8pm, stood at 12.7 million viewers, according to early ratings data. The figure equated to a 54.5% share of those watching their TVs at the time.

The match was shown in full on BBC One from 5.30pm through until 8.40pm, averaging an impressive 8.0 million viewers (38.8%) overall.

As a result of the "Henmania," ITV's Coronation Street recorded one of its lowest audiences of the year, just 8.6 million at 8.30pm.

Elsewhere last night, ratings for C4's Big Brother were back on the rise with an average of 4.8 million viewers for the 10pm show.
