The Doctor Who actress will play the main prosecutor in the show, separately referred to as both Law & Order: UK and Law & Order: London, according to recent reports.
Meanwhile, Bamber confirmed that he has accepted a role and identified his police partner as Walsh, who played Corrie's Danny Baldwin until 2006.
"The show is [with] London judiciary and London cops," said Bamber. "It's got the same premise as the original American Law & Order, same everything, just with a UK production company and UK actors. My partner's going to be a British guy named Bradley Walsh."
Filming for the series, led by Torchwood producer-writer Chris Chibnall, is expected to begin next month.
