ITV1 to air 'canoe man' doc next week

ITV1 is to air an hour-long documentary on John Darwin, who faked his own death, in primetime on Monday.

John and wife Anne, who was part of the conspiracy to pretend he had been killed in a canoeing accident, have been sentenced to more than six years each in prison on charges of fraud, deception and money laundering.

Producer True North secured exclusive access to the police investigation and will look at why John decided to return to the UK and speak to detectives.

One Man And His Canoe: The John Darwin Story, scheduled for a 9pm slot, will also reveal the moment John realised he would have to confess, as well as the lies told to the Darwins' sons.
