The first instalment of oil business thriller Burn Up attracted a decent audience for BBC Two last night.

The two-part drama, featuring Spooks star Rupert Penry-Jones and The West Wing's Bradley Whitford, sees suspect events in the Saudi desert spiral into a green-themed international crisis.

Burn Up was watched by 2.4m (11.5%) between 9pm and 10.30pm, putting the channel well ahead of its traditional competitors.

BBC One led between 9pm and 10pm, with the last part of its Cars, Cops and Criminals documentary drawing 4.6m (22.1%), while the final Marco's Great British Feast scored a mediocre 2.9m (13.6%) for ITV1.

Reality show Personal Services Required brought 1.7m (8%) to Channel 4 between 9pm and 10pm, up 100,000 on last week.

Five aired the latest in its popular Extraordinary People strand, The Rainman Twins, about hugely talented autistic siblings, drawing a reasonable 1.6m (7.7%) to the channel.
