Simon Cowell has been named the top reality TV villain in a US poll, reports Reuters.

A survey conducted by AOL Television crowned Cowell the reality celebrity viewers love to hate. The American Idol judge secured 39% of the vote.

Idol co-panelist Paula Abdul was named worst reality judge, attracting 42% of votes.

Those surveyed were apprehensive about appearing on the show, with only 14% saying they would audition for the next season.

Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav faired poorly in the poll, with his axed dating show Flavour Of Love named worst reality programme (34%), the show that people would least like to appear on (57%), and the show with the most frightening star (44%).
