All you need to know on '24' series three

So, series two of 24 came to its dramatic ending tonight, but what do we know about series three already? Digital Spy has all of the details.
First of all, the new series will not follow on immediately from the second. It will, in fact, be set two and a half years later.
How President Palmer's assassination attempt will have worked out is unclear, although Dennis Haysbert, the actor who plays him, will be returning for the new series and will still be the President.
Inevitably, Jack will also be back. He'll be back working at CTU alongside daughter Kim. He'll also have a new partner; at this stage it's unclear whether that partner will be Kate - the actress who plays her, Sarah Wynter, has not been cast as a regular character next series but does make "an appearance."

- DB Woodside: formerly of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Will play Mike Novick's replacement as Palmer's Chief of Staff
- Agnes Brookner: Will play a woman whose boyfriend is a drug dealer
- Zachary Quinto: Unspecified role
- Wendy Crewson: Will appear in "at least a third" of the episodes; rumoured to be playing the love interest of one of the main characters
