
Emmerdale came out on top in the battle of the soaps last night in another head-to-head clash with EastEnders.
An hour-long edition of the Yorkshire-based soap, Emmerdale: Risky Business, pulled in an average of 5.47m (30.9%) for ITV1 from 7pm to rank as the top non-news programme of the day on any channel. EastEnders, shown between 7.30pm and 8pm, came second with 5.25m (28.6%).
At 8pm, BBC One regained the lead, taking 4.92m (25%) for Holby City. ITV1 documentary Send In The Dogs averaged 4.1m (20.9%), while Channel 4's Ten Years Younger managed 1.97m (10%). On BBC Two, a new series of Dr Alice Roberts: Don't Die Young began with 1.82m (9.7%). The ensuing second episode improved slightly to 1.88m (9.2%).
BBC One drama Bonekickers continued its slow ratings slide, losing another 400,000 week-on-week to average 4.25m (19.7%) in the 9pm hour. It still won the slot, however, with ITV1's Doc Martin repeat drawing 3.76m (17.5%) for second place. The final episode in the current series of Gordon Ramsay's The F Word interested 3.09m (14.3%) on Channel 4 and on BBC Two, Jimmy Doherty's Farming Heroes managed 2.16m (10%). Five had 1.27m (5.9%) for a CSI repeat.
The latest Big Brother update attracted 3.3m (18.9%) to Channel 4 in the 10pm hour, with a further 207,000 watching on Channel 4+1. Five improved to 1.49m (8.4%) for a CSI: New York repeat.
BBC Three's EastEnders repeat was the top multichannel draw of the day, with an average of 872,000 (5.1%) from 10pm. First-look Hollyoaks delivered 683,000 (4.7%) to E4, with an additional 224,000 (1.4%) on E4+1.
On ITV2, disaster movie Dante's Peak attracted 438,000 (2.5%) between 9pm and 11pm. Meanwhile, the finale of BBC Three's disabled reality show Britain's Missing Top Model was seen by 423,000 (2.3%) in the 9pm hour.
