[ .tv ], British Sky Broadcasting's wholly-owned technology channel, has announced the appointment of Gay Flashman, former BBC Knowledge programming executive, as head of programming.

Flashman, 31, replaces Stephanie Couillard, [ .tv ]'s former head of programming, who was promoted to the position of channel head in June this year.

Couillard said: "Gay will bring a wealth of experience and fresh ideas to the channel and through her innovative approach, will take [.tv]'s unique programme offering to the next level."

Gay Flashman said: "[.tv] is perfectly placed to build on its position as a pioneering niche channel in the digital marketplace and I'm excited at the prospect of moving forward with it.

"The channel has already carved out a strong position for itself, building a viable brand while pioneering low-cost but highly original technology programming. I'm eager to get stuck into developing a whole raft of fresh programming for next year, exploring new formats and alternative schedules while focusing on growing new on-screen talent."
