England's Euro 2004 qualifier against Turkey pulled in huge audiences to Sky Sports on Saturday night, according to early ratings figures.
The game - shown live on Sky Sports 1 from 6pm - averaged a massive 3.9 million viewers, around 100,000 higher than the channel's previous high for the World Cup qualifier against Italy in 1997.
Coverage peaked with some 4.2 million viewers, although these early ratings figures fail to take into account the number watching the game in pubs and bars across the country.
Later in the evening, ITV1's delayed coverage drew a 4.5 million average.
