UKTV are to drop UK Gold 2 in favour of a new entertainment channel - 'UK G2' - aimed at a younger audience.
The new station, launching on November 12, will broadcast daily between 8pm and 5am and offer a programming lineup targetted at the advertiser-friendly 16-34 year olds.
As with most UKTV channels, UK G2 will benefit from a quick route to the BBC archive's - shows such as They Think it's all Over, Shooting Stars, Room 101, Coupling, I'm Alan Partridge and The League of Gentlemen will all be regulars in the schedule.
"UK G2 will be more edgy and contemporary, with more sarcasm and wit about it," said Matt Tombs, UKTV's head of entertainment and drama. "It will be the sharpest combination of drama, comedy, quiz and chat shows for upmarket viewers who like TV with certain bite."
The channel will be available from launch on Telewest, NTL and Sky Digital.
