UK G2 identity "bending the rules"

BBC Broadcast says that the new channel identity for UK G2 - the replacement for UK Gold 2 - is based on the idea of "bending the rules," taking its cue from the "irreverent humour" of shows to air on the channel.
Jane Walker, Senior Creative Director, BBC Broadcast, said:
"UK G2 is an irreverent new addition to the UKGold family and is specially designed for those who like their TV with a healthy dose of sarcasm. BBC Broadcast has created idents that reflect this. These ideas are acutely observed snapshots with a twist of the unexpected and convey attitudinal independence and a devil may care sense of fun and drama. They are original and intelligent, and are unmistakably UK G2 through and through."
The first ident, Formula One, is composed of the following sequence:
"It is Sunday morning in a local playground and all the local dads are out in force. In the distance we can see a couple of mums chatting. Suddenly and without warning three dads race through frame, pushing Maclaren buggies as they go. To the sound track of roaring formula one racing cars or motorbikes, we see them shoot past camera in close succession."
The second ident, Shoot, is described thus:
"Two workmates, one male the other female, sit opposite each other in a corridor of glass offices or partitioned workstations. Bored on a slow afternoon, they start having an imaginary shoot out with each other across the room, using their desks as cover. A colleague walking past, with a stack of photocopying, is caught in the imaginary crossfire. Joining in, he takes a mock fall, sheets of paper flung into the air."
UK G2 launches on November 12.
