A host of celebrities are being lined up to sing a 'Perfect Day' style rendition of 'Auld Lang Syne' on New Year's Eve, the BBC have announced.
The performance is the key highlight of BBC One's Hogmanay Live, normally shown on BBC Scotland but going nationwide this year for the first time since 1998.
Those participating include Bruce Forsyth, Melanie C, Leslie Grantham, Shane Ritchie, Mark Owen, Basil Brush, Linda Barker, Rolf Harris, David Dickinson, Lorraine Kelly, Chris Moyles, Eamonn Holmes, Fearne Cotton, Alex Parks, Phillip Schofield, Jenni Falconer and Ainsley Harriott. Representatives from Coronation Street and EastEnders have also "been signed up" for the song, which will be screened at precisely three minutes past midnight.
"We are getting more offers to take part every day," said producer Alison Black. "It is going to be difficult just incorporating everyone, but we've got a great cross section of celebrities already. There seems to be a real buzz about it."
Hogmanay Live will be hosted by Hamish Clark (Monarch of the Glen's Duncan) and Jackie Bird.
