A new series where the mother-in-law swaps home with their son or daughter for a week wasn't the massive hit ITV had hoped for last night.

The show, from the makers of C4's highly successful Wife Swap, averaged just 4.9 million viewers - a 20.8% share of the audience - over an hour from 9pm on ITV1.

An encouraging sign for the network was the trend of the ratings through the hour; the programme began with 4.3 million and steadily grew, finishing on 5.6 million at 10pm.

BBC One, meanwhile, ruled the roost through peaktime with 7.7 million (32.2%) for Celebrity Bargain Hunt at 8pm, 7.7 million (31.6%) for Holby City at 8.30pm and 6.7 million (29.2%) for Traffic Cops at 9.30pm.

Overall, BBC One managed an average share of 32.5% during peaktime against ITV1's 24.0%.
