Published Tuesday, Aug 19 2008, 14:25 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly

The drama follows Jones's character Ruth Slater as she is released from prison following a 15-year sentence for the murder of two policemen. As she tries to make a fresh start with her new boyfriend Brad (Will Mellor), her chances of happiness are threatened by the two sons of one of her victims. The two men, played by Jack Deam and Matthew McNulty, contemplate revenge against Ruth, but she must also face up to other, more far-reaching, consequences of her actions.
Filming has already begun in West Yorkshire for the programme, which is written by Sally Wainwright and produced by Red Production Company.
Sally Haynes, Controller of Drama Commissioning for ITV, said: "We are thrilled to have such a powerful, character-driven thriller from Sally Wainwright and are delighted to be working with Red Production Company on Unforgiven."
Wainwright added: "I loved writing Unforgiven. The idea came to me overnight, and it took on its own momentum very quickly. It's quite a dark piece for me, but not without its lighter, warmer moments. I am delighted with the cast."
